    Re: New album from Shri

Hell, yes! If I hadn't come across him and Badmarsh doing their thing at the RFH eight years ago, I might never have realised there was music worth getting excited about again, would never have come across Outcaste and the rest, nor picked up Pathaan's compilation CD's and heard "Bengali Song" for the first time, which still blows me away, and led to my wanting to hear more of that bloke, Sawhney....

( ... was kind of gutted when I realised it wasn't actually Nitin singing but, hey, perhaps it's for the best! Lol )

...... never would've found the courage to go out clubbing on my own and loon about on the dance floor and not give a damn (I'm not even going to pretend that I can dance!) ....... and, I would never have found my way to this forum (that's right - you can blame Shri!!!!)

Seriously though, you've pricked my conscience as, I read your post and discovered that, while I went to the launch gig of Shri's second album a few years back, I actually forgot to buy a copy! I couldn't understand why I could remember his first album but not the music on his second one and then realised it was because I hadn't got it!!!  And the guy went through so much hassle to get that one out there.....

So, thanks for the tip off  - I have some shopping to do!!Wink

Yes I like Shri too.  I have a copy of East Rain and went to see him a couple (?) of years ago at the EDF Festival at Bristol.  I remember rocking slightly (not quite dancing) in the drizzle and being amazed by his unusual playing (bow on bass guitar, slapping a tabla).

There is a load of really good albums coming out at the moment.  I will buy Nitin's of course, but I struggling to choose between some of the others - Elbow, Roots Manuva, Jackie Leven, Thievery Corporation, and now Shri ..... to mention just few.  The shelves are already groaning in my study ......

    A brief note or two!

Well, I tried your link there Getaround and well..... it's probably the shortest sound after say, that of Zebadee spring and the Avon Lady Doorbell..... not that I want to sound ungrateful!!!  So, anyway, maybe this link to the Shriplayer will work and, if it doesn't, you can find it y'self on his website....

Incidently, that  "- I will see you - " track.... vocals are a bit Bowie don't you think? Or do I need to floss between my ears again?Tongue Tied

    Enjoy!!

Re: A brief note or two!

    Buga,

I wonder if we are downloading the same thing - I managed to download a track.

    Getaround,

I got the Elbow album in the end - a finely crafted and emotive album indeed.  Oh, and the new album by the Thievery Corporation.  The rest will have to wait a bit - still Christmas isn't too far ahead. Gift
