Dear Oscar,
I don't usually do this kind of thing but I enjoy a little challenge every now and again. Here goes.....
D ( as in move an A up to 7th fret and bar across 5th fret with index finger - please let that make sense!), Am (or Am7 but I don't think so, bit too fluffy!), G and then your bog-standard D, and repeat until you have gained repetitive strain injuries in both wrists.
If I'm wildly wrong then feel at liberty to blame any of the following:
My tuning fork is suffering from metal fatigue.
My guitar is tone mutton Jeff (tone deaf, if you're not familiar with East London vernacular).
My ears need re-stringing.
If all else fails, either work your way through EVERY chord featured on the www.chordfind.com site, then listen intently as hell to the track in question, or bin the guitar and buy a kazoo!
Good luck,
Buga

Well they sound good enough to me - I was thinking Cmaj or Cadd9 for the 2nd chord but Amin (or Amin7) is much better!

Ah, well, keep it simple, that's what I say!
If you really want to work out chord sequences to the songs you want to play, may I suggest pestering the grandparents for their copy of "Norwegian Wood" by the Beatles.....crack the chords to that one and working out any other tune will be a cinch!!!

Following on from queries about cords for Nitin's songs, I have been trying to work out the guitar tab for O Mistress Mind- I have the first sequence sorted, but then things get a bit tricky
Anyone got any ideas on this, or any other songs
Any ideas much appreciated
Cheers
Gotan

gosh, thanks for the replies.. you're too kind.
Thanks to you guys I'll be able to play this song for my girlfriend ( the past month it became to be 'our' song.. )
P.S: this is a really good forum ( I do not mean the lay out). The fact that Nitin Sawhney himself is able to discuss stuff with his fans onn a descent way is unique, I believe.
'Cheers' ( must be typical English..I'm from Holland) ..

Oscar - are you going to sing it too? (haven't a clue about lyrics, perhaps Mr. Sawhney will oblige us...) I forget about things like 'our' songs existing and tend to associate music with other aspects of life...fortunately, I'm going to resist the temptation to wax lyrical on THAT topic, but you have me thinking...what WAS my last "our song"?.... Possibly, "Head like a Hole" by Nine Inch Nails.....
Keep on strumming!

Hello people,
Thanks for all your muso queries..... I find it quite humbling that anyone would go to the trouble of listening to my musical output let alone work out how to reproduce it!
On that subject, to Gotan 1980 the chord sequence for "Waiting (O mistress mine)" is Dm, Dm6/C, Dm6/B, Dm6/Bflat, Dm6/C repeated until the modulation, where it moves to Dm, Dm6/C, G, Fsharp m11, B7, Em9, CM7, Em9, CM7,A/Csharp, Dm, A flattened9th..... then last section just stays on the D minor with the bass moving down chromatically ... ie....Dm, Dm/Csharp etc......you should be able to hear that...... Hope that helps.
Cheers
Nitin
P.S. Bugo was pretty spot on with the chords for Mausam...... She also seems to understand theoretical Physics amongst other stuff which makes me wonder if I might know her....... Anyway.......

Is everything like this these days?

I'm not able to play music but I listen and take inspiration from music in other ways. Not to be outdone by Buga using London Undersound as a background to her art club - I did a group session inspired by "The Pilgrim" My son - who sometimes professes not to like music that I like - has been heard singing this round the house. I had a group of students, aged 16-20, who are rather reluctant to consider career choices - perhaps they feel it is too big a project to get started. So I got them to try to do some jigsaws - the ones composed of 9 squares - first without help and then after a few minutes with some clues. Having the clues made it a lot easier to complete the puzzle. I then talked about why we had done this and quoted from the song, including "life is a puzzle not pieced yet" and explained that they don't have to make once and for all life decisions but can start on the process using using various "clues" e.g. information, talking to people, careers appointments, work experience/voluntary work, online questionnaires, each on a different slide with pictures of different jigsaw pieces. The students really liked the session. As the session was going so well, I also explained that Nitin had done various things before settling into music and that people take different lengths of time to find out what they want to do, explore different things, may have several different careers in a lifetime anyway.
