    Re: Pester, pester.... ooops!

Embarrassed ..... erm, you do know that I was only kidding about the...... erm ..... 'pestering' don't you Rhian? It's just that, well, you're writing in red and, yeah, I know that Sumit's written in red (I think so, anyway!) but, you seem a little....errr...... well ....erm... vexed? Incidently, I didn't know that Cruella rode a skateboard...

Rosemary, not that beach..... I meant a real one for a change!  I took some pics for work, to add to the reference material for landscapes and  nature-inspired design (well, here's hoping!). The only beach pics I could find were all of the Paradise variety. I thought it would be good to add something Welsh and slightly rugged to the collection! Hey! Maybe I left the CD in work!! Idea

    Aftershock Images

Hello everybody! I got back from holiday to find a little present from Sumit in my inbox. Here's a little teaser, shot during the Aftershock rehearsals, of some new stuff we'll be adding to the site. Stay tuned!

Wow, Beverly! The guy in the bottom right picture……. he looks sort of….. familiar…..?

Anyway, so sorry to read that you are experiencing the same problem with Sumit as my mother does with her old Yorkie. Every now and again, she returns home to find that Daisy has left her a little present too...…

    Re: Aftershock Images...and other stuff...

???? ........depends on what you were thinking of putting in it!  I quite enjoyed the contents of the last one!  Stick out tongue

......... Beverly, you are probably wondering, and possibly a little worried.....Rosemary stuffs her own dates..... no, really, I'm being serious for once.  She gave me some, beautifully presented in a little box, when she came over for the Jazz Cafe gig..... mmmmmm!!!   Incase you've never tried it yourself, stuffing dates is every bit as fiddly as it looks and not for the inexperienced, I can tell you.  I attempted it once but, after several frustrating hours, I had to give up.  Stuffing the date was the easy part.  Trying to cram him into the tiny presentation box without his legs popping out and kicking off the lid was impossible ......Confused

Great things come in small packages!

How can there be so many smilies and yet none of them, NONE of them can convey my delight! Looks like I'm going to have to resort to words and, as only "Wow!" seems to come to mind, it's going to be pretty limited unless I dress it up a bit....

          OH WOW!!!!!

......no, that was STILL pretty limited!  Got my little package from Rosemary this morning and it contained.... quite the best compilation CD I've ever listened to. No exaggeration. I'm playing it for the fourth time in succession as I write!

Our Rosemary is a woman of many talents, with a great passion for listening to music and always keeping her ear to the ground. She's also incredibly modest so I hope she will forgive me for writing this public declaration of her talents!  Rosemary put together the compilation herself, arranging a well-considered choice of tracks to create a graceful journey of contemplation that carries the soul along effortlessly, from an achingly poignant beginning all the way to a  blissfully bouyant conclusion!  .....Pity she didn't also send me the playlist - I've got some serious shopping to do!!!  Ah well, all good things....

Rosemary, I can't thank you enough and, Nitin.....watch out!!!! Wink

Ah Buga, you are making me Embarrassed

If I can manage to get round to the tracklisting in between coming back from parents and going on holidays, I will do so.  At the moment I am glad to have got home and escaped the floods at last.

Oh no, I can hear the rain fall !!!l

A playlist would be great but actually, this week I am busy making preparations to go.... camping.... Yes, I know. Womad has relocated to Wiltshire this year and I'm a little worried.  Seem to have heard a lot about flooding, near and far, but not heard a thing about the weather in Wiltshire.  Has it escaped the deluge or simply slipped under the rising waters, unnoticed?  Already, I'm starting to have second thoughts about my decision to not take my inflatable mattress... could be a life saver!  Hoping to venture further west after the Proms night and I've been checking out coracles and how to make them. I've very fond memories of watching coraclemen scuttling over to the Towy in the small hours, like two legged scarab beetles. Never actually been in one myself though...

Anyway, talking of playlists, usually I attribute such inclement weather to a certain Mr. S's choice of songs, "Rainfall" being perhaps the most likely 'culprit'. However, I'm not sure if he's been out and about much doing live performances this summer...I could be wrong ....

....Perhaps, instead, he has been busy working on something new to perform at the Royal Albert. If that's the case, let's hope he doesn't call it "Monsoon"......Storm

Re: Oh no, I can hear the rain fall !!!l

Playlist is now in your inbox, Buga!

If I ever get round to a "social issues" playlist, I would include Rainfall, along with Not Enuff love by Faithless, Harvest for the World, some Marvin Gaye and Steve Wonder.  As I seem to be travelling all over the country, this one could be a long time coming.

I think Monsoon has already been taken, Buga, it's by Christopher Gaze, and I have it on Pathaan's Indian Sunset compilation.  But if there is a lot of rain maybe Nitin could call his next album London UnderwaterBig Smile

I thought coracles were Welsh but I looked up on google and found that they were Indian too.  I still can't get the link to url to work - the icon has gone faint on me again.  I would be worried if you took an inflatable mattress to Womad - you could drift off anywhere.

    Anyway must dash ....

Re: Oh no, I can hear the rain fall !!!l

Indian coracles?  I thought you were having me on until I checked it out and yeah, in Southern India, they have coracles .... also in Vietnam!!  Both have the latticed lathe framework but also a woven basket body with an external 'skin' ...that's a lot of work you know, think I'd better stick with the basic welsh model!

Cheers for the playlist but.... Wham? Pet Shop Boys? Kajagoogoo? Are you sure it's the right one??!!!?? Wink

What about adding "My Friend The Sun" by Family to your "social issues" list.... actually, those lyrics could apply equally to meteorological issues come to think of it...

"Although there's been rain, and it's coming again
Change has to be here, obviously
Though my friend the sun looks well on the run
He's there in the distance, if you care to see."

here's a picture of a coracle..... just for those who have never seen one.

Buga, you cheeky person, do you think I would send you Kajagoogoo. Stick out tongue Although I notice their hairstyles are now back in fashion.  As for using The Family - something that old might be hard to get hold of.  I've been looking around for some very early Fleetwood Mac.

Anyway, I was browsing amongst some careers films on the net (you can tell term is over) and was enthusing about the soundtracks - some of them were by Ninja tunes. Then I went out shopping at lunchtime - was browsing in Boots - and nearly died of shock (rapture?)  They were playing Nitin's "Flipside".  I stood transfixed - probably those watching the cctv thought I was very odd! I just never expected to hear his music in such a mainstream setting.

Anyway, enjoy Womad and don't forget to pack your wellies and your coracle.  Or maybe some sticks so you could pitch your tent above ground rather like  lake village dwellings.
