Hi Nitin,
First of all congratulations for the incredible concert in Barcelona las week. It was awesome.
And congratulations for your website, too.
However, I think your website isn't as good as your music. I'm sure that your web and graphic designers can do it so much better than that.
What d'ya think about it?
davetrey.

Re: About the web design...
Alikhan can do it!
I met him on this board, and we got talking. It turns out he's a bit of a web designer. Don't let his big round glasses (with leopard-print arms) and scrawny, fluffy-faced demeanour fool you, he actually has an acute eye for style.
Yes, he's a web designer extroadinaire, and despite those kiddy-fiddler glasses, the closest he's come to child-porn is a dodgy acquaintance who he swears never showed him those pictures.
Obviously the site's advert for the forthcoming Philtre album serves an important, if historical, purpose, and the fact that the homepage window is completely pointless and random is a novel quirk. I have to admit though, when I first found myself browsing the grey-on-grey forums I did for a moment think I'd inadvertantly stumbled back to JohnMajor.com .
Anyway, yeah, employ Ali. And pay him enough that he'll kick some money back to me in appreciation.
Many thanks,
Pin

Re: About the web design...
Grey on grey forums? Hell, I just assumed that the colour cut out on my monitor everytime I accessed this site! Could Ali come up with a forum site where we could log on and then choose own colours for forum pages, in the same way that some email inboxes can be customised, only better? I'd go for prussian blue, lime green, fuschia pink and scarlet and the beauty of it would be that only I would have to see it!
Yeah! Away with the Grey please Nitin!

Re: About the web design...
Forget it guys, ain't no one listening. Remeber moderator 'none' so it is only us folk out here, so I guess we can just chat about it amongst oursleves, becuase there ain't no moving and shaking going on on this this website. Lucky for the forum users that we can track the performances of NS through postings- may be he is virtual too- although I am sure he looked human the last time I saw him DJ- who knows..............I will get my eye's tested before the next gig, and report back on my findings.........

Re: About the web design...
Hmmm??.. a virtual reality Nitin Sawhney? Like a male version of Kyoto Date or, the Manga-esque Shiori Fujisaki? It would present the VJ with one hell of a headache maybe but it would be a fantastic opportunity for the man himself ? he could be out gigging in several places at once (?. including a Stateside tour!!!) while his real self could be sat at home working on the next album?.. ALSO his virtual self/selves wouldn?t have to be humanoid either! If his VR self was an octopus, he could play several instruments at once AND he would have the additional advantage, should he suddenly find himself overcome with shyness, of being able to change his appearance and blend in with his surroundings!!!
Meantime, you have caused me to rethink how I would like the forum to appear on my screen too ? forget simply changing the colour ? I would now like a rainforest full of exotic blooms for an index page, and my mouse would control a huge, iridescent butterfly which would flit about the screen until I chose a ?topic flower? for it to land on and then, as it unfurls it?s tongue and syphons off the nectar, I could read the posts which would appear on each petal ??. could Ali Khan make that possible?
Anyway, time for my reality check!

The amount of great stuff Nitin does - you would think there is more than one of him -- but he is real!
I agree the grey background is boring but at least dark text on light background is easy to read. I wouldn't want bright flashing colours.
But the "Enter" page is completely useless (and now considered outmoded in terms of web design). I'd like to see that go.
But mainly I would just be happy with more updates of music news and gigs. I'm beginning to think of planning my summer and chances are if I want to see Nitin this year I am going to have to travel out of Wales - maybe kip on friends sofas or stay overnight somewhere.

Re: About the web design...
Rosemary!!! Either I've spent too long surfing tonight or you've posted that twice dear..... or is Confucius burning his candle at both ends now?
Actually, has the man NEVER played in Wales then? Dew, dew! Incidently, we have a sofa. We also have the occasional mouse, but I suspect that the 'sound system' that has recently materialised in the kitchen has proved to be the best rodent deterant ever!!!! Anyway, having probably put you off on so many levels, you're more than welcome to crash out on it (the sofa, that is!).

Re: About the web design...
Buga,
Hmmm .... think the server was slow and pressed the button. I apologise for the double post.
Actually Nitin has played in Wales in the past. I first saw him at the Worldport festival in 2003, and then at the Hay Festival in 2005. But only in Bristol last year. It now costs ?4.90 to get back into Wales across the bridge! Not that it deters me but I seem to be crossing over the bridge fairly regularly these days.
Thank you for your kind offer of a sofa for the night - I wasn't angling for an invitation. Though if there are any gigs at weekends or even midweek in the summer, would be nice. Our Equality Officer is moving to London, but he assures everybody that he will be living in a shoebox with only one sofa bed. Though he would be glad to see us - just not put anyone up!

Re: About the web design...
So Rosemary, are you coming?
I heard (although it could be a completely unfounded and ridiculous rumour, of course) that Mr. Sawhney has included a very long pause about midway through his film score so that he can abandon the stage long enough to grab a tray brimming with refreshments and hand out choc-ices and popcorn etc to his adoring audience - such attention to detail!
Well, anyway, I hope that you are able to make it but, if not, well there's always Prapancha Pash ll, lll and even Prapancha Pash lV - Sunita's Revenge (the one where Sunita finally tires of Sohan and Ranjit's bickering, takes off to backpack around the world and ends up in Cyprus married to a saz-plucking olive oil tycoon).
Perhaps we'll see you there.
Best,
Buga
P.S. Just incase, Mr. Sawhney, I'll quite happily settle for a carton of juice if you haven't any icelollies. My friend Kam will probably be more than content with jellybeans, dry-roasted nuts, anything nibbly like that really (but please, please, don't hand her anything that comes in 'noisy' packaging - she's terribly prone to rustling and we wouldn't want to get slung out).

Re: About the web design...
Dare I say this Rosemary, but you would've loved the movie.
I've been trying to find the words to describe it without babbling like a lunatic and, obviously, without wanting to give anything away regarding the plot. I seldom get round to watching movies, much less silent ones, which is a pity, because they hold the most magic. Perhaps I'm just a disheartened pessimist because there are (surely!) still some excellent movies being made but otherwise it seems that so many hold only the promise of an inane plot, lazy dialogue and/or are overly dependent on a bombardment of special-effects to keep the view from slipping into a stupor. Anyway, enough grumbling!
"A Throw of Dice" was delightful and captivating from beginning to end and the score complimented it perfectly, almost as though the film had been written around the music, and it's a great pity that it was for one evening only. HOWEVER!!! I read the leaflet this morning AND apparently, it's going to tour the world - where exactly, I've no idea but who knows, eh? (Unsurprisingly, there is NO INFO on THIS website!!!) ALSO! Later in the year, it will be released on DVD! AND! In the meantime, Farringdons, based at the Barbican (contact details can be found under shops, on the Barb's website, are selling a special edition of the music on CD and, even though there was something of a stampede to buy them last night, I rang up and was assured that there are still some left! Leaving nothing to chance, I'm about to head off to pick up a couple of copies!!!! But, before I forget, the website devoted to the film is most certainly worth a visit!

Re: About the web design...
ah well, buga seems like I missed out on a good evening. I've taken the phone no of the bookshop and I'll see if they have any CD's left tomorrow.
I can't get into the film site, despite having downloaded the Flash player.
If the film comes round here - possibly might do Chapter Arts Centre - I will drag a friend off to see it.
