    In The Mind Of...

Anyone see the review in the Guardian today? Quite complementary - 4 out of 5 stars. But of course, how could it be bad with such source material and such a remixer? Big Smile

Hmmmm..... though I like the album, I don't think it is such a high standard as his other stuff.  So perhaps 4**** is fair.  Some tracks seemed to gel together, but others less so.  Having said that, it is not an easy thing to do - what to choose and what to leave out.  I've been mulling over what I would put on a remix album, and not got too far yet .....

first post so, err, i'll start by saying hi!

is In The Mind of... available anywhere to download, it isn't on itunes and I wondered if there were any (legal please!) sites where i could download an mp3 version.

if not, would you recommend buying it on CD? i have every other album plus the namesake score, bit of a shame if i'm missing out here!

Hi Teek, I don't know about downloads because I'm rather wedded to those shiny round things, yes, CD's.  You can buy the CD from http://www.amazon.co.uk/Mind-Nitin-Sawhney-Compiled/dp/B000O5AY5W/ref=sr_1_3/026-9262756-6109238?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1187471798&sr=1-3

You can order it from your local HMV store.

Ask them to carry more Nitin and other artists you like.

    Re: In The Mind Of...

Prices seem to be coming down in the record stores.  I got a decent lunchbreak the other day and wandered into one of them.  I managed to pick up Natty's new album and Best of Ethiopiques for 8 GBP each, which is comparable with online sites. Although trying to find which genre they were filed under was an interesting challenge.

Has he got you working on commission, Beverly?

    Re: In The Mind Of...

Point taken Beverley.  But it is good to have Nitin's stuff available as widely as possible - not everyone is going to look for stuff on the web.  I got into various artists e .g. St. Germain, Talvin Singh by picking stuff up in record stores during that occasional event - "the lunch hour".

Buga, I'd be very worried if Beverly wasn't paid for being a webmaster.  The scary thing is that some people have expressed the view that you and I are on commission too.  Definitely not!

    Re: In The Mind Of...

Gawd No! They couldn't afford us! Heheheh.... can't help noticing though, Beverly's gone quiet again..... maybe I was a bit too cheeky.....nah! She's probably busy hawking albums!  Seriously though, while it's really great that there's an online store.......

                                        Yes  >>> http://www.nitinsawhney.com/store/ <<< Yes

                                                  .................. and it's got a .................

                                GREAT SELECTION OF ALBUMS!!!!!!!!

....... it doesn't appear to sell anything else...... How about Nitin Sawhney T-shirts, Beverly?  You wouldn't have to have anything printed on them and they could come in lots of exciting shades .... khaki, for example.... Just imagine Rosemary!  We could get kitted out in Nitin Tee's, novelty socks and baseball caps, clutching Nitin record bags, jangling with Nitin bling and sitting indoors, sipping coffee out of our Nitin Sawhney musical mugs..... well, I'm assuming that you wouldn't want to go out dressed like that........Wink

    Re: In The Mind Of...

    Buga,

I don't think khaki suits me as well as it does Nitin.  I seem to remember us having a conversation IRL about T shirts bearing the legend "One of Nitin's nuts" and then discarding the idea.   Seriously, a lot of artists do have promotional T shirts, although the quality of them can vary, or so I am told.  Anyway I thought you were the person to make bags at home, perhaps you could scan pictures of Nitin onto them.  But please  - no musical mugs.  I have a musical biscuit tin and it drives me round the bend.  Some of the promotional mugs we have used in our company appear plain on the outside but when you put a drink in them, the picture appears.

Anyway I am off home now, need my floaty outfit for yet another wedding, so no T shirts in evidence ...... Have a good weekend everyone.

Quote:  "I seem to remember us having a conversation IRL about T shirts"  Unquote.

We DID??? (that's as in "did" with emphasis, not D.I.D.) As slogans go, that one sounds too much like something out of an old Reader's Digest magazine - you know, like "I am Jane's Spleen".... perhaps that's why it didn't seem like such a good idea.

Anyway. What's this about another   wedding ??? How many husbands have you got now??? eek!

    Buga,

I said floaty dress, not white dress.  Gosh I wouldn't want 3 more husbands and I am not looking for a toyboy.  Having said that the one I have got is disappearing to Paraguay for 8 weeks soon.
