Two songs cracked in the space of two days - aren't you guys lucky! This is actually only half a song though, because a) it only really makes sense if you've heard an acoustic version of 'Prophesy' (such as on the DVD for instance) and b) it's reeeeally difficult to write out, especially since I still don't know how to do tablature easily - as a result, this is going to be messy!
OK, first the tuning - here are how the guitar strings should be tuned, starting at the bass end:
E: down to a D
A: no change
D: no change
G: up to an A
B: up to a D (I know, I thought my string would snap too!)
E: down to a D
So, all the strings are now tuned to either a D or an A, with the highest two strings at the same pitch - strumming across all the strings now sounds really cool! (Is it a D5 chord?).
Right, well, basically what Nitin does is place two fingers on the same fret but one string apart (i.e. with an open string in between) - he does this more or less through the entire song. He starts on the 3rd and 5th strings (counting from the bass end), but the 2nd and 4th strings and the 1st and 3rd strings are also used in this way - it doesn't matter what your fingering is though, just keep strumming across all the strings.
Maybe the best thing to do now is describe, for each pair of strings that are 'fretted' (fretful?), what the correct frets are to play during the different parts of the song...
PART 1
(3rd and 5th strings) 7th fret - 6th fret - 9th fret - 7th fret
(The first time through, try ending on the 10th fret instead)
PART 2
(3rd and 5th strings) 3rd fret - 2nd fret - no frets - (2nd and 4th strings) 4th fret - 5th fret
PART 3
(2nd and 4th strings) 3rd fret - no frets - (1st and 3rd strings) 3rd fret - no frets
The progression of the parts will go something like this:
PART 1 - PART 2 - PART 1 - PART 2 - PART 3 - PART 3 - PART 3 - PART 3 (and repeat)
Unfortunately I can't give an idea of the timing of the fingering, but if you know the song well enough you should be able to do it by ear. When Nitin starts to get excited he mixes up the fingering, but this is an 'anything goes' kinda tune anyway, so experiment. Also, something that Nitin does in places is to bridge lightly across all the strings at the 12th fret (to play their harmonics), but you'd need to see him doing 'Prophesy' to know when he does this - it's very cool though.
If you've made it this far, well done! Apologies for the crappy attempt at this one. Any questions, just reply or PM me. See ya! (Now I can get my guitar back in tune again).
