Overview
A year has gone by since Nitin Sawhney's last album release, and he now presents a collection of the stunning re-workings of some of his most diverse and inspiring tracks. Sawhney's third album with V2, 'All Mixed Up' contains collaborations with some of the most talented remixers around, including the likes of Joe Clausell, Ges-e (Nasha), Quantic, Freeform Five, Seiji and MJ Cole.
What makes "All Mixed Up" such a strong collection of tracks is it's awesome diversity in sounds and featured artists. The remixers involved have all been chosen by Sawhney over the years for their unique, innovative approaches to tackling 'the remix'. There are no less than 9 previously unreleased mixes on this album and it kicks off with the legendary Freeform Five mix of 'Homelands', which appears for the first time in its full length. Also making appearances are MJ Cole, with his classic 'Sunset' mix and KV5 with their truly inspired reworking of the Sawhney epic 'Immigrant'. Elsewhere, the AtJazz remix of 'Falling' (taken from his sixth album 'Human'), with vocals by Matt Hayles (Aqualung), reinforces how innovative and adaptable Sawnhey's music can be, before Quantic takes things up a gear with his tight, Afro-influenced elements on the same track. The Bugz in the Attic crew teamed-up with Rodney P to deliver their monster remix of 'Rainfall' in October of last year, and it still stands up as a vibrant slice of London beats, streets, and rhymes. This album also contains previously unreleased mixes by up-and-coming talent Aaron Jerome ('Eastern Eyes' and 'The River'), Spain's hottest collective Ojos de Brujo ('Acquired Dreams'), Seiji's version of 'Eastern Eyes', and a sublime 'Prophesy' remix by none other than Ninja Tune's Fink.
CD2 is an exclusive half hour Nitin Sawhney mix CD, featuring cuts from Fink, Ojos de Brujo, Bugz, Quantic, Landlslide, Ges-e and others. The vinyl pack features all of the unreleased mixes on four sides of wax.
The enigmatic Sawhney continues to break ground with this album, proving that he remains one of the ultimate creators, innovators and musical pioneers.
